Donna Lee is a very popular bebop / jam standard.

It was written and recorded by Charlie Parker, although some believe that Miles Davis actually wrote the head.

It is in the key of Ab. Good practice for that key! Many of licks also works over progressions in its relative minor - F minor.

Up for auction is a vintage 1974 Gibson Byrdland in good condition. This all original beauty plays amazingly with rich tones and superb sustain. There are no splits, cracks, breaks or repairs anywhere, just moderate play wear with oxidation on the pickup covers, some scratches on the headstock and minor finish fading in spots (pictured). The action is low, the neck is true and the frets are in great shape. The serial number is 410135. Comes with the original Gibson hardshell case. Pretty clean vintage '64 Firebird. I love the streamlined look, nice tidy headstock with tuners at the back although i would imagine it would not be that practical on stage. Ditto the vibrato unit. Still one sexy beast. Great looking guitar although I wish they would make a copy with a smaller body like they do with the 335.

British Vox Mark VI Special

For sale is this circa 1965/1966 British made Vox Mark VI Special, made in Dartford, Kent. It was bought in the 60’s in London. Classic 60's sound and very similar to the one Brian Jones used. 5 digit serial number stamped on the back of the headstock with the word 'SPECIAL' stamped aswell as Made in England. Fantastic sound, and very nice to play, with a low action and straight neck. All three pickups are the original British Vox pickups, though the middle pickup is not currently connected. Neck and bridge pickups sound amazing. Original 3-way switch has been wired so first position is neck pickup, middle position is neck and bridge, and third position is bridge. first pot is master volume, second is tone, third is frozen. The headstock has had a repair (see photos) from former owner after replacing the original tuners, but original tuners have been put back on. Original case has piece missing at base as pictured. Body has a few dings, but nothing bad, see pics. nice player, good action. Please remember this is an original 60's British Vox and is a 45 year old guitar. Any questions please ask. When I met Jerry Reed in ’68 or ’69, he told me you could get great delay tricks with an Echoplex, but didn’t explain how. It wasn’t until I picked up an instrumental album by Jim and Jesse, a bluegrass duo featuring Jesse McReynolds on mandolin, that I heard someone using echo to add notes to a line. It sounded amazing, so in ’71 or ’72 I brought an Echoplex back to England, but it took me two or three years to stumble upon how you create that effect. I was actually playing too many notes. You have to play a very strict four notes to the bar and slide the playhead until the repeat comes in a beat-and-a-half later. This way the delay falls between each note you’re picking. To make it work, you have to set the delay for only one repeat and keep the echo at the same volume and tone as the original note.

People talk about freedom, but the blues is still one of the freest things you can play. If you know the changes, you can take them anywhere you want to go. I don't say all of them, but I knew a lot of them can't play a melody for you. I'll sit in with people, and we'll play "freedom," and then I'll say, "Well, let's play a tune," and they can't even get through the time.

A person can't appreciate freedom unless he's been in prison. How can you know what it is to be free if you haven't gone through all the changes of being unfree? A guy can't tell me at 20 years of age that he's going to be "free" when he hasn't been through half the things I have.

Vintage early 1960's Kay Speed Demon triple pickup

Early 1960's Kay Speed demon (I think it is designated H573 or K573, something like that). Very good condition especially for 50ish years old. Controlls all work well, very little scratchiness. Pickups all work, I believe they call them speed bump pickups. 4 way selector works. All knobs are original. Good neck. Some crazing in the paint (hairline cracks) in just the right light but still really good shine. A few dings as expected but no buckle rash. Reproduction pickguard, I broke the original and laminated it to some pickguard material, but the repro looks better. I will send the original also.

The original tuners, the G tuner is bent but still works fine, you can see it in the back headstock picture.

This is a really cool old guitar with that unique vintage sound, not just a wall hanger but a player too. My luthier played it for quite a while and said it plays great, I agree, even if it has a fat neck. There are a few Youtube videos out there of the same guitar if you want to see what these old gals sound like.

Has a beat up old case probably only good for packing and shipping. Guitar in foam wrap in case in box for shipping.

This is a Like new Gibson Custom Shop Peter Frampton Les Paul Special with 3 P90 Pickups. Made in 2006. It is in perfect condition and comes with everything including hardshell case, certificate, cable, and polish cloth.

The Peter Frampton Les Paul Special comes from the Gibson Custom Shop's Inspired By series of artist-developed guitars. Using his original 1958 Gibson Les Paul Junior as a jumping off point, Peter Frampton worked closely with the Gibson Custom Shop luthiers to develop an electric guitar that would embody the keen vintage sensibilities and highly personalized specs he is known for. At first glance, the Peter Frampton Signature model looks like the classic Les Paul Junior it's based on, but closer inspection reveals several unique specs.

The mahogany top covers a weight-relieved mahogany back and the ebony fingerboard and super-slim neck profile call to mind the neck found on the Custom Shop's Peter Frampton Signature Les Paul Custom. However, the three independently wired pickups are single-coil P-90s instead of the humbuckers found on the Signature Custom. The end result is a guitar that is lightweight, highly responsive, and full of tonal options.

Unlike standard production Les Paul Junior and Special models, the Peter Frampton Signature model has a 2-piece body. A mahogany top covers a honeycomb-routed mahogany back, yielding a light yet very responsive guitar. Each single coil P-90 pickup on the Frampton Signature Junior has a dedicated volume control, allowing each pickup to be blended in with or isolated from the others. The volume knob for the middle pickup allows it to be added to any pickup arrangement selected with the 3-way toggle switch, which functions as it would on a 2-pickup guitar: up for the rhythm pickup, down for the treble, and middle position for both. A master tone knob controls all three pickups.

Original & Clean - Factory Black Stinger - Great Junior
*****Item Description*****

Here we have a very nice vintage 1957 Gibson Les Paul Junior, serial # 7 4631 in yellow ink. The guitar has a unique factory black "stinger" on the back of the headstock. Stingers were often seen on higher end jazz guitars but occasionally found their way onto other models. I did put the guitar under a blacklight and there were no inconsistencies or evidence of any repair or refinish, I am very confident this feature is original to the guitar.

The rest of the guitar is in great shape, the body and neck both have very light play wear most of which is barely visible. All of the hardware and electronics on the guitar are original with the exception of some newer Kluson Deluxe tuners, the originals are included and could be put back on the guitar, they will need new buttons. The guitar has a solid C shaped neck that is perfectly straight. The frets and fretboard are both clean with very light wear. The guitar sounds and plays great, I forget how fun these little Jr's are.

The width at the nut is 1 11/16" inches. The guitar comes with the original brown reptile chipcase, which is in good shape other than some wear on the interior of the case.

Fender Japan JV Squier Strato Order Made Contemporary

This auction is for a 1983/84 build Squier/Fender Japan Contemporary series Stratocaster with JV (Japan Vintage) serial.

The guitar is in very excellent condition and you could say "Near Mint" for its age.

As you can see "Order Made" on the end of the neck shown in the picture above, this one seems to have been customized.
At first, I thought it has a customized color because I haven't seen the color before but later I found the color in the color chart of the catalog in the era.

After my research on the Contemporary Series, I found that all the guitars' necks are painted in the same color as their bodies have or in black. Meanwhile the neck of this guitar is painted with clear coat.

The neck has a beautiful curly grain.

The guitar sounds resonant with the twang and spanky sound. Before playing the guitar, I thought it would suit to only Heavy Metal Rock, but it wasn't so. It sounded so sweet that I enjoyed playing Blues and other type's music too with this guitar.

This guitar is one of The "Squier Contemporary" models with JV serial /series made between 1982 and 1984 by Fujigen.
This guitar looks barely used and the fretboards shows minimal wear.

In 1982, "Squier" brand was introduced firstly to Europe as less expensive Fender guitars. These "Squier" brand guitars were made in Japan by Fender Japan /Fujigen.
(At the time "Fender" Japan guitars were not exported and sold only in Japan.)
Right after introduced in European market, "Squier" were made for Japanese market too. They had two lines; vintage types and "Contemporary" models.
The former line's guitars were as less expensive based on the Fender Japan vintage models with less expensive parts, but the latter ones were not less expensive models and some of them had higher prices than "Fender" (Japan) models.

For your information, the "Fender Contemporary" models were the first Fender Japan models to be exported officially as Fender Stratocasters and Telecasters. I think in the domestic market, these Fender contemporary models were sold as "Squier Contemporary" models, because "Fender Contemporary" models are very rare in the Japanese market mean while "Squier Contemporary" models are hard to find in the USA.
According to some information, These " Contemporary" models were produced till 1987.

This one has an "END ROX" bridge which locks the strings into place with Allen Wrench/Hex Key tightened HEX screws. These are situated on the underside of the bridge's tremolo block. This means the guitar is strung much like a Floyd Rose, however the strings pass through the bridge & tremolo block and are locked in place by winding around the posts of 6 hex screws (much like how one would tighten a wire in an electrical socket). If you don't need to lock the strings you can string the guitar in the usual manner.

You've heard it before because it's true -- in the 1970s, Japan reminded Gibson how to make quality guitars. Here's a really hard-to-find model with some of the most amazing features I've ever seen in one guitar...get this -- a Spruce-top, multi-bound thinline venetian-cutaway archtop with an ebony fretboard, set neck and a solid center block like an ES-335. It's got the desirable wide 1 11/16" nut and a long 25.5" scale length. Try finding another guitar with those features!

This model is extremely rare and was made for a short time in the late 70s and early 80s at the Matsumoku factory in Japan...this one is most likely an '81 as the serial number starts with a "1" and because its original purple-lined case is circa 1980. How does it play and sound? Absolutely amazing...it has the depth and clarity of an archtop with the bass and growl of a semi-hollowbody. Put another way, this beauty has major balls!

The guitar is in excellent condition with no repairs or modifications other than changed knobs (I'm happy to provide the original ugly witch-hat knobs instead). The gold hardware has minor tarnishing. The original Grover-style tuners hold tune perfectly. The guitar has been only lightly played and shows some minor fret wear but nothing that affects playing...action is very low and it does not fret out anywhere on the neck even when bending. The neck profile is awesome...one of the best I've played...nice round medium C-shape. Overall weight is just 8.51 lbs, extremely light for an archtop with a solid center block! The original purple-lined Gibson case is included. The serial number is listed on the back of the headstock but not on the label...not uncommon to see for this era. The wrapover bridge was invented by Gibson and debuted on the Gibson Les Paul from 1953. You can only set the overall intonation and string height. Wilkinson's GB-100, PRS Stop-Tail and Leo Quan's Badass bridge are all based on the wrap around bridge.

The shorter string length behind the saddle that the wrapover design affords makes string bending easier compared with Tune-o-Matics.

The gentle curve of the top of the bar provides a break point for the strings that isn’t as sharp as some designs that would follow, so the notes emanating from this bridge sound a little rounder and furrier, a character that many players really enjoy.

Selling off my collection of vintage guitar effects pedals (so check all my auctions). Up for auction is an original 1970's Dan Armstrong Orange Squeezer, that can either be plugged into your amp or guitar (currently set for amp as I'm a Strat guy). To this day, this is perhaps the most transparent of all compressors, most famously used by Skunk Baxter in "My Old School" by Steely Dan. Here's what my friend Analog Mike has to say about this:

"The Dan Armstrong Orange Squeezer (OS) is legendary for its smooth compression and "squashing" tone as used on many Steely Dan (My Old School by Jeff Baxter etc), Doobie Brothers, Dire Straits (Sultans Of Swing), and other classic albums. Jay Graydon emailed me and told me that he played the solo in PEG by Steely Dan with the orange squeezer. Jay also used it on countless songs heard on the radio and uses it for recording all the time."

These have been reissued a couple times, but none can match the originals. You don't see these everyday so check back often. Works great, one replaced screw on the back, other than that its all original.

This is an absolutely beautiful 1979 Gretsch TK 300. It was made in the USA and is in amazing condition! The finish is gorgeous with only a couple extremely minor blemishes, you can tell that it has been taken very good care of all these years! Everything on this guitar is original except the bridge pickup was changed out. The original bridge pickup went dead so I had to replace it, the pickup that is currently installed is an early 90's epiphone les paul bridge pickup. It sounds very similar to the original Gretsch pickup and is the closest match I could find. The neck pickup is original and works perfectly. All of the pots are original and work perfectly also, they are very quiet and do not scratch at all. The neck is perfectly straight and the frets are in new condition! All of the chrome is in awesome condition and it also has the original Badass Bridge and it's so cool! I would say that this guitar's condition is a 9 out of 10 and it also sounds absolutely incredible! The pickups are hot and it definately has that awesome vintage crunch sound to it, this guitar just rocks!

It comes with the original case but the case is a little beaten up.

Guitar frets using traditional steel alloy is made of approximately 18% nickel-silver aka German silver and silver free alloy of nickel and copper.

While all stainiless steel frets can be used but not as common, they can be found on guitars by Parker and John Shur, they tend to last longer and have a harder and slicker feel.

The stainless steel wire, however, is more challenging to work with. The fingerboard must be trued exactly as you would like the surface of the frets to be as this wire's hardness won't allow you to level out imperfections off of the top of the frets. Nor would you want to reshape a fret profile with a file

This '65 Epiphone Howard Roberts guitar is in excellent condition, and super rare - 1 of only 42 in 1965! It never got me down, because I felt that that was what I was supposed to do. It had nothing to do with whether it resonated with everybody or not. When I first did Headhunters, it was partly out of a curiosity about what would that be like, if I did something that was more funky or earthy at this point; who knew that there was a larger public out there that was dying to hear that? You are bidding on my 2003 Fender John Cruz Custom Shop Tiger Eye Telecaster purchased from the original owner in 2009. As I understand it from the original owner, John Cruz made two sets of a Strat and Tele in this amazing Tiger Eye wood. I have searched for two years for the matching Start but have never found it for sale anywhere. As the back of the neck indicates, this is serial number 2.
If you are looking at this guitar, you are probably familiar with John Cruz. He has been with Fender since 1997 and is a Master Builder. Below is his profile:

I have a thing about exotic woods (as you can tell from my other listings) and the pictures do not do this guitar justice. The Tiger Eye wood is amazing. I have only seen one other Tiger Eye wood guitar with this quality and that was my PRS Custom 24 Private Stock I sold to Japan last year for nearly $10,000. In addition, the neck is smooth with ripple maple wood.

I picked up playing guitar about three years ago after not playing for four decades. Unfortunately I suffered a hand injury and I am no longer able to play, so I am selling off all my guitars (except my first one for prosperity.) Please check my other listing as you will find a nice assortments of guitars for sale.

None of the guitars I am listing have been played very much, and not one has left my house nor has any ever been gigged. I am a hobbyist player, and all of these guitars were stored in my third floor family room (always temperature controlled). Our house is a no smoking house. In fact, the ashtray is still wrapped in the original factory paper as you can see in the photo.

This guitar is in amazing shape. There are only two things worth disclosing. First, there is a slight blemish in the finish near the neck on the side of the body. I took a close up and dramatically overexposed the photo so you can see, but in reality it is very visible. Second, two letters off the name of ‘Telecaster’ came off before I received the guitar. I contacted Fender directly and apparently it is an easy fix—need to go to a local Fender authorized repair shop and get them to order the decals from the factory. Unfortunately the closest one to me is in NYC and it’s a pain to take it there. If you are really bothered by this, you can take it to your local shop and get them to order the decal. Other than that, the guitar plays perfect.

I am going to sell it well below what I paid for it from the original owner, which was over $4000. This guitar is going to be listed with a very low reserve (don’t ask as I do not disclosed but it is significantly below those figures listed above.) So here is a chance to own essentially a new guitar well below that.

The guitar will include all the case candy and the original case. The case is in excellent shape with no scratches or nicks.

Vintage 1950 Gibson ES-300 ES300 Electric Guitar WOW!!!

Wow, what a jaw dropper! This is a big fat maple Gibson in amazing original condition, that comes to us through a local owner. The serial number is 4508 making it a 1950. We can not find a molecule that is not original. Everything works perfect and is better than any 50’s era Gibson we have ever seen. There is some light checking throughout the finish as one might expect, but the finish still has a beautiful shine to it. The neck is straight and nice looking with all of the body bindings etc. tight and beautifully aged. There is some very light fret-wear on the first few frets and some lacquer wear on the back of the neck in the first position at the thumb (see photos), but the neck feels amazing! The pick-guard has started to curl and one of the mounting blocks cracked, but the good news is that it is all there including the originals screws for an easy fix by a luthier.

It might be hard to see in the photos but the top and sides are highly figured quilt maple showing a lot of curl and flame which you don't see too often on the older Gibsons. The case is original and in really great shape with latches and hinges perfect and working. There is even a 60 year old capo in the case! All of the electronics work perfectly, and boy does this baby have a tone! I could write a short story on how well this thing plays and how sweet it sounds, but I’m not going to keep going on and on here. The bottom line is this. This is one of the most amazing survivors of this era that we have ever seen. Give it a light cleaning, a pick-guard repair, and a fresh set-up and you will own one of the best there is. This will ship out tightly and professionally packed in a standard guitar shipping box, fully insured. We'd be happy to answer any questions you might have on this. This guitar sound and plays great. The ASAT pick ups are legendary, very P-90ish....This guitar was actually inspired by the Les Paul Junior. I was playing it through a Marshall JCM 800 1X12 and a Keely Mod TubeScreamer and it screamed!

THE SECOND INSTRUMENT FROM THE G&L CUSTOM CREATIONS DEPARTMENT

In February 1998, prior to the formation of the G&L Custom Creations Department, some experiments were begun at G&L using Mahogany bodies with various G&L Magnetic Field Design pickups. These experiments were continued by the Custom Creations Department which developed this unique and beautiful instrument. Kalamazoo inspired elements were incorporated into both the appearance and tonal composition, while blending them with the unmistakably Fullerton tones of the G&L patented Magnetic Field Design ASAT pickups. The result was the Limited Edition ASAT “Junior”.

Below are the photo and specifications for the ASAT "Junior", the second limited edition instrument produced by the G&L Custom Creations Department. There were only 250 of these instruments built.

A note from Dave McLaren:

The ASAT "Junior" is a guitar that we had been dreaming of for years. The Custom Creations Department team really liked the sound of the ASAT pickups in a Chambered Mahogany body, but we thought we would take the concept further. It really started because many players new to the ASAT Special mistake its large, rectangular Magnetic Field Design pickups for P-90 type pickups. We have often heard these people say, "Oh yeah, that's the one with P-90 pickups". Naturally, we have to explain that the ASAT Special pickups are in fact not P-90s and different in design.

However, with our knowledge that the ASAT Special pickups sounded great in a Chambered Mahogany body, we thought we would have some fun with the idea that ASAT Special pickups do have a similar appearance to P-90s. The styling influences for the ASAT "Junior" are quite obvious, however the tone is quite unlike anything that came from Kalamazoo. After all, the heart of the ASAT "Junior" are real ASAT Special Magnetic Field Design pickups.

The ASAT "Junior" made its debut at the Summer '98 NAMM show in Nashville (July 10-12), and the crowd was knocked out! Word of this guitar got around the show rapidly, and many of the Nashville gunslingers (many of which are already big fans of the ASAT Special) came over to see what this axe was all about. Sure, they drooled over the cool look of the guitar, but when they plugged it in, they couldn't believe the tones. "The clean tones are the best!" we heard. "No way, dirty that thing up and its even better!" commented another Nashville cat. One thing we did figure out real quick: this guitar gets it done and everyone knew it.

Bottom line on this one? If you're an ASAT collector, you owe it to yourself if you ever come across one. I've got mine, and there's no way I'm gonna part with it

This guitar is a swirled UV77MC by Ibanez!!! It's one of the originals and yes, a 7 string. If I'm correct, there were less than 900 made. It's used but it still plays beautifully. It's got very low action and the last frets are scalloped. I've had it for many years, I actually bought it from Steve Vai's guitar tech in Hollywood back when I was going to M.I.. According to him Vai has actually played it. I can't tell you if that's true or not. And yes, I will always regret selling it but I believe it's time...

It's set up to be played with a low B string. Humbucker/single coil/humbucker pick up setup. Green knobs, disappearing pyramid inlays, etc. As you can tell, it has some dings in the back towards the bottom of the body (the white spots). This guitar is just rare and completely awesome and beautiful. No fret wear and no buzzes. She comes with her case too. The Alnico V pickup was designed in 1952 by Seth Lover and Walt Fuller for Gibson to succeed the P-90 pickup on several of Gibson's distinguished archtop jazz hollowbodies, most famously the L5 CES, ES-5, and Byrdland guitars. Similar to the P-90 in appearance, the Alnico V is easily recognized by its distinctive rectangular pole pieces. It gets its name from the stronger Alnico V magnets, while each coil has 10,000 turns of 42-gauge wire to achieve its clear, round, ringing sound. This is one to snatch up, folks! Won't find another in this condition!
First, it is in nearly flawless condition. Has MINOR wear here and there, but has been professionally buffed to a high-gloss to show off the BEAUTIFUL wood.

I am a luthier and guitar builder, and I have thoroughly inspected this guitar. The top is solid, bookmatched, carved spruce and the back and sides are solid AAA-grade flame maple. I guarantee them to be solid and not laminate.

This guitar is 100% original with the exception of the remanufactured pickguard. I am including the ORIGINAL tortoise swirl pickguard, but it is very brittle and should not be used.

The binding is beautiful red tortoise shell and the top has full checkerboard purfling. The headstock has a Brazilian rosewood overlay and the bridge and fretboard are both Brazilian rosewood. There is also a tapered Brazilian rosewood inlay where the sides come together at the bottom.

The neck and headstock are fully bound with tortoise shell. Check out the original tuning machines! It is beyond rare to have the original covers still there! Underneath the covers are the original Kluson Patent Pending tuning machines.

The body and neck are in fantastic condition. I filled a nick in the neck heel and back of the neck, but other than that they are nearly flawless with the exception of some minor finish checking on the back of the headstock.

The neck has been professionally reset and comes with a guarantee for a year from the purchase date to stay true. The action is good and low and is playable all the way to the body! The frets have been professionally leveled and dressed, so they are like-new.

As you can hear below, the tone is unbelievable. The volume is huge and the sustain rings long after a note is played! This will beat any same-year Gibson in sound.

Rickenbacker's small Bakelite guitars of 1935 were among the first solidbody electrics.

Despite the popularity of arch tops, the 1935 Bakelite Model B Spanish guitar made the most history for Rickenbacker. Though not entirely solid (it had thick plastic walls and a detachable Spanish neck), it achieved the desired result-virtual elimination of the acoustic feedback that plagued big-box electrics of the day.

It set the stage for all solid body guitars to follow, even though it was difficult to play sitting down on the bandstand. (A Bakelite Spanish the size most guitarists were accustomed to would have been as heavy, literally, as a sack of bowling balls.)

A variation of the Bakelite Spanish invented by Doc Kauffman (who would later become Leo Fender's first partner) was the Vibrola Spanish Guitar, an ungainly thing equipped with a motorized vibrato tailpiece. So heavy, it required a stand to hold it up.

Here is another example of my personal collection of vintage and classic Gibson guitar that I am selling because I want to down-size a little before I retire. This guitar is VERY hard to find in any condition, much less in Excellent condition!! In all the years I have been collecting, this is the first and only Little Lucille that I have been able to acquire. So, What is a Little Lucille? It was a product of the Hawk series of guitars from Gibson that began with the Night Hawk in 1993. Then expanded the series with the BluesHawk in 1996. In 1999 Gibson came out with a smaller version of the then famous "Lucille" played by BB King. This guitar is a BluesHawk all dressed up!! The Little Lucille, unlike the regular BluesHawk, featured cream colored binding on both the body and the neck, gold colored Grover tuners,a brass truss cover that was engraved with "BB KING", a gold colored postion indicator around the selector switch and the same gold colored bridge as found on the the full sized Lucille. As far as I can determine this guitar was only sold in Ebony finish. Although some scources indicate that a wine color may have been on the drawing table at Gibson. This guitar is a 1999 model (first year of release and possibly the only year according to some scources) and is in outstanding condition.It falls short of Mint condition because it shows some Very light scraches on the front near the F hole and some light pick marks (visable in the photos). The scratches are very fine and barely into the finish (looks like something brushed against it). I was going to have them buffed out but did not want change the guitar in any way. In all other respects the body is very clean and shows only normal wear and my fingerprints,which will be gone when you get it!!!. NO buckle rash on the backside. The neck is excellent and shows VERY little, if any wear to the fret board or frets. The electronics are in working order and the single coil pickups produce that sound that only comes from a Gibson. NOT the original case but rather, a 1990's era, Gibson Hard shell case which is in great conditon, This your opportunity to own a piece of American musical history.
