The first widely avarilable commercially-produced booster was the Electro-Harmonix LPB1 (Linear Power Booster), it uses a single transistor for its gain booost. Other vintage boosters include the MXR Micro Amp and Dan Armstrong's Red Ranger.
Vox offered its Treble Booster and Treble/Bass Booster in the mid 1960's. Electro-Harmonix's LPB1 with the Screaming Bird and also Screaming Tree were also treble boosters.
